MSU-Naawan Secures a Spot in the 2023 Regional Training Program in Bangladesh

The School of Marine Fisheries and Technology (SMFT) faculty member, Mr. Kaent Immanuel Uba gets invited as one of the few selected trainee to the Regional Training Program on Sustainable Resource Management hosted by the Department of Oceanography - Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) in Bangladesh from March 12-23, 2023. The 12-day training course will comprise lectures, practical, and field trip to Cox's Bazar.

Overexploitation, industrialization, improper waste disposal, ocean acidification, biodiversity loss, and global warming are some of the human activities that have a significant impact on the health of the marine ecosystems. This exploitation of the ocean requires action, and mankind must develop methods to better manage our resources so that both humans and the ocean benefit. The annual event aims to raise awareness of the ever-changing ocean through global coverage in order to manage a safer, more sustainable relationship between humans and the ocean.

The training participants will also join and present a poster during the International Symposium on Marine Resource Management on March 24-25, 2023. These events are sponsored by Nippon Foundation - Partnership for Observation of the Global Ocean (NF-POGO).

It is one thing to acknowledge that more than 150 applications from 17 countries were submitted for this training event and after three stages of review, only 22  individuals from 4 countries were chosen to participate; and MSU Naawan's School of Marine Fisheries and Technology's faculty Mr. Uba passing these meticulous procedures is certainly one commendable feat!
