Mr. Uba presents at the International symposium on Marine Resource Management
The 12-day Regional Training Program on Sustainable Marine Resource Management has ended, yet, another 2-day International Symposium on Marine Resource Management with a theme, "Maritime Resource and Blue Economy: Scopes and Challenge", has commenced on March 24-25, 2023 at the Central Auditorium, Shahjalal University of Science and Technology, Sylhet, Bangladesh. It covered topics in marine fisheries and maricultural potentialities and challenges, climate change issues in blue economy development, marine spatial plan and conservation, opportunities for investors in blue economy, maritime pollution, gender issues in blue economy, ocean monitoring for sustainable blue growth and nature based solution for blue economy. Among the invitees were relevant national academics, researchers, government officials, and international experts (academicians, researchers, and early career researchers).
Mr. Kaent Immanuel N. Uba, from the School of Marine Fisheries and Technology, and the only Filipino presenter who made it through a series of screenings stole the spotlights with his paper, "Establishment of the Non-Indigenous Mussel Mytella strigata (Hanley, 1843) in a Rich Estuarine Fishing Ground in Southern Philippines: Gaps, Potential Impacts, and Management Options." This paper is from their project, which is funded by DOST and is being implemented by MSUN since the start of March 2023.
The university is proud of his accomplishments and this success not only demonstrates MSU Naawan's outstanding education; but also the immense potential of its faculty and staff towards internationalization. Indeed, MSU Naawan is a rising Kraken in the academia.
