International Food Animal Conference 2023 at Can Tho University, Mekong Delta of Vietnam

    Assistant Professor Richelle A. Niepes, from the College of Agriculture, Forestry, and Environmental Sciences, recently participated in the International Food Animal Conference 2023, which was themed "Animals, Food, and Environment: A Value Chain Approach." This significant event was held at Can Tho University, Mekong Delta of Vietnam, spanning from August 30th to September 1st, 2023.

    During the conference, Ms. Niepes presented her research paper titled "Voluntary Feed Intake and Growth Performance of Growing Goats (Capra hircus L.) and Nutrient Digestibility of Ipil-ipil (Leucaena leucocephala L.) and Napier Grass (Pennisetum purpureum S.) in Different Feeding Ratios." This research was not only presented but also published in the Journal of Animal Husbandry Sciences and Techniques (ISSN 1859-476X).

The conference boasted a diverse array of attendees, including keynote speakers and participants from various countries, including Canada, Hawaii, Belgium, the Netherlands, Japan, Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Vietnam.

   The conference's overarching goal is to disseminate and advance recent scientific knowledge and technologies in the domains of animal production, health management, food technology, and the environment. These advancements aim to enhance the quality and safety of livestock products to meet the growing global demand. Moreover, the conference seeks to foster research collaboration, facilitate technology transfer, and promote partnerships among institutes, universities, agencies, and enterprises involved in animal farming. Furthermore, it aims to pinpoint crucial research areas and strategies to further elevate the livestock industry, ultimately benefiting farmers and consumers alike by increasing income and ensuring the safety and nutritional value of animal products.

This achievement shows the university's unwavering commitment to global academic excellence and solidifies its prominent role in the sphere of higher education.
