Four members of the College of Agriculture, Forestry, and Environmental Sciences took center stage as they presented their research papers at the International Conference on Biodiversity, hosted at Central Mindanao University in Musuan, Bukidnon. This event unfolded over the course of three days, from November 15 to 17, 2023.
Dr. Sonnie A. Vedra, with expertise in environmental conservation, shared his research findings under the title "Inventory of Fishes Inhabiting the Talabaan River in Misamis Oriental: A Way Forward to Biodiversity Conservation." His presentation aimed to shed light on the diverse aquatic life within the Talabaan River, emphasizing the significance of sustainable conservation practices.
Ms. Hannah Marielle V. Sindayen, contributing her expertise in ecology, presented a paper titled "Abundance of Anurans Inhabiting the Watershed Area of Initao, Misamis Oriental, Philippines." Her research focused on the population dynamics and ecological role of amphibians within the specific watershed area, contributing valuable insights to the broader understanding of regional biodiversity.
Exploring the intricate world of insects, Mr. Gleven Jay V. Laraño captivated the audience with his presentation on "The Ladybird Beetle (Family Coccinellidae): Friend or Foe?" Lastly, Ms. Jeanbee D. Gutierrez showcased her expertise in coastal ecosystems with a presentation titled "Species Diversity of Mangroves in the Coastal Zones of Naawan, Misamis Oriental."
