Oceana is an international organization dedicated to achieving quantifiable change through precise, science-based policy campaigns with set timelines and clear goals. It desires to assist the government in its goal of promoting national policies that conserve the Philippines' rich marine resources in the Philippines. They will use the legislation to ensure that fish and fishermen are properly protected. They will provide technical assistance to the government in its efforts to establish sustainable catch limits, reduce discards, and safeguard spawning habitat. They also intend to conduct research expeditions to educate the public about the value of healthy oceans and their role in the Philippine economy by supplying food and jobs. Finally, they want to see the Philippines attain sustainable fisheries and healthy oceans for the benefit of all Filipinos.

The Memorandum of Understanding signifies a commitment to joint efforts in advancing research, education, and outreach programs focused on the critical issue of microplastics in our oceans. OCEANA, a leading organization in marine conservation, and MSU at Naawan, renowned for its dedication to academic excellence and marine preservation, will work hand in hand to address the challenges posed by microplastic pollution.

The collaboration marks a significant step towards fostering a stronger partnership between academia and environmental advocacy. We extend our heartfelt congratulations to everyone involved in making this collaboration possible. Together, let us continue to strive for a future where our oceans thrive, and our communities are empowered through knowledge and action.
